Sentinel Tour: Pure (Covenant #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Summary

There is need. And then there is Fate.

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon--and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude--or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone

For JLA – Pure has been called Seth’s book. Did fans reaction to Seth surprise you?

I wasn’t really surprised by the reaction to Pure because I knew that the book focused more on Seth than Aiden.

For Alex - Knowing what you know about Leon, do you think there was more to him being the one to find you in labyrinth?

Oh, I’m sure there was more to it.

For Aiden - By far, the zoo was the best scene in Pure. What did you enjoy most about being at the zoo with Alex?

I loved knowing that I was doing something for her that made her happy.
For Seth – That whole sleeping issue that you and Alex have in Pure, did you realize what was up or were you just going with it?

I would’ve just gone with it. But, truth? I knew what was up.

Review: Black and Blue (Otherworld Assassin #2) by Gena Showalter

Black and Blue (Otherworld Assassin #2)

By Gena Showalter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

“Work with Evangeline Black? I’d rather be slit open from navel to nose.”

—CORBIN BLUE

“Good thing I always carry a knife.”

—EVIE BLACK"

Another 5 stars for Gena Showlater.

After being severely injured, the only one Blue can trust is his sworn emeny, Evie Black. Evie has had enough experience to know that apart from being an excellent assassin, Blue is a ladies man. What she doesn't realize though is that being a "he-whore" isn't his choice but a requirement for his job...

Evie and Blue must work together if they want to find out who attacked Evie's father and Blue's partners. Problem is that they would much prefer to kill themselves than work with each other!

This book was beyond my expectations!!!

Evie and Blue had so much chemistry. The sexual tension was oblivious in every page. Each scene was hotter than the previous. Evie and Black were such an amazing couple. They fit perfectly.

“Working with Evie Black combines my two favorite things. Starting my day with her . . . and ending my day with her.”

—CORBIN BLUE

“I guess I’m like fungus. I grow on you.”

—EVIE BLACK

I wish the book was longer though. It seemed to have finished so quickly even though I stayed up all night reading and loving it...

All in all, I highly recommend it and I can't wait to see more of them in the next installment (which I'm dying to read.... Hope it's John's story!!!).

Synopsis

Review: Darkness Awakened (Darkness #1) by Katie Reus

By Katie Reus

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

“I never stopped loving you, Finn. Even when I wanted to hate you, I just couldn’t. Not truly. You stole part of my heart, damn you. And I don’t want it back. I don’t care what we have to face as long as we have each other’s backs." - Lyra
This book was soooooo intense!!!

Lyra is desperate and the only one who can help her, gave up on her long ago. Or so she thought...

Finn, the Alpha and leader of his pack, has never regretted a decision as much as he regrets giving up on Lyra. He let her go once, thinking he was protecting her but he's not willing to make the same mistake again. Lyra is back asking for his help in order to save her hybrid daughter, Vega, and Finn wants nothing more than to please her. What Finn doesn't realize is that Lyra is hiding something and once he learns her secrets everything is going to change...

Finn will do anything to protect what's his and he's ready to kill anyone to protect his family...

I really really liked Darkness Awakened ! Ever since I saw the it at Katie's website I knew I was going to love it (how could I not since it's written by Katie Reus?). The story was amazing and it had a nice flow. I loved the way the author chose to present us the events in the book. We would get a taste of their past and things would get back to the time being so naturally.

What I loved the most though, were the secondary characters. Vega, of course, wasn't like your average teen, strong, stubborn and determined to find what she's looking for . Gabriel, Finn's guardian and friend was such a loyal and protective friend. And last but not least, Drake, the dragon (loved him) and Victoria, a pack member and a healer, were such an incredible combination. Hope we see more of them (pls pls pls)!!!

All in all, I totally liked this book and I highly recommend.

Review: Mine to Hold (Mine, #3) by Cynthia Eden

By Cynthia Eden

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

“The rules are different with you. Everything is different with you.”

Let me just start by saying that Mine to Hold is my FAVOURITE book in the series!!!!

I loved the electricity between Noah and Claire! Even in Mine to Keep we could see that there was something between them. A pull, chemistry call it as you want but was soooo scorching hot...

Claire needs a break. From life! Having nowhere and no one else to go to she grabs the only choice she has, Noah. Noah has been waiting a long time for Claire to come to him and now that he's got her, he's not willing to let her go! Determined to start her life anew Claire is eager to try playing the game called "Life" again. But her past won't let her...

The only thing Noah wants is to protect her. To give her the life she deserves and should have always had. Noah is ready to finally give himself but fear is keeping them both back!

"He hadn’t been afraid, not since his parents had died. Even when he’d been battling the enemy—in ice, in sand, in the dankest forest he’d ever imagined—Noah hadn’t been afraid.

But I was scared when she was so still on that sidewalk. Fear had come back then, and he wouldn’t forget the feel of its icy claws raking into him."

Mine to Hold was trully a startling story. It has action, love, fear, passion everything mixed so amazingly together. I think that's one of the reasons I loved their story sooooo much. The other reason is their pasts. Noah and Claire were so alike that it broke my heart to see what these two people had to go through..

The thing I hated the most about this book was, Claire's constant running. I understand that she had trust issues but I thought being with Noah would help her get over them! Apart from that the whole book was perfect.

"She loves me.”

“Yes, I figured that one out pretty fast.”

“I love her.”

“That one was obvious, too,”

In this book we see characters from the previous books in the series such as Trace and Skye, who are sooooooooo happy (they so deserve it) and Drake. I was so surprised when I saw him and then I thought "He has a reason to be here" and he did but then I was so disappointed because I waited for a HEA for him as well. Please Cynthia write a book about him. Everyone got their HEA except him, it's so unfair, he was so saddddddd... :(

I can't say it enough but this book was BRILLIANT. I just hope we see more of Claire and Noah (maybe a small novela???)...

Highly recommended!!!

Review: Water (Elements of Power #2) by Heather James

Water  (Elements of Power #2)

By Heather James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

"Then his gaze met mine.

And my lungs emptied of air. - Roxy

The second book in the Elements of Power series will blow you away!!!

Everyone is trying to move forward after what happend.

Jasmine with Brae's help, wants to discover her origins while Roxy doesn't even know what her future holds. They are all in for a big surprise..

Roxy sets to find Brae but ends up at the Sephan Realm. Sephans were meant to be peacefull but apperently nothing is as it seems. The only thing she now wants is to get away. But will they let her???

Jasmine will find what she desired but sometimes truth comes at a price...

I really really liked this book. Just as Fire, Water has dual POVs, Jasmine and Roxy's respectively. The dual POV worked amazingly as the girls are no longer together and each had its own problems to deal with. Moreover, the dual POV allows us to see what they both go through, it makes us understand better their actions, what they think and finally their emotions!

Water changes everything! Secrets are revealed and the girls find out that they have more in common except from their love for Bea!!!

One thing I hated in Water was the end! Unfortunately (for us readers) the book is a major cliffhanger. And by major I mean HUGE! While reading Water I felt that the whole book was preparing us for just one moment and when it finally came it ends. Imagine my surprise!!! I turned over a page and there was nothing and I'm like "Where's the rest??? This can't be the end!! No the author wouldn't do this to us..." Needles to say, she does!

All in all, I loved this book (ok, I even somewhat liked the cliffhanger as well)and I can't wait to read the third and last book in the series Air (coming out in 2014)!!!

Totally recommend it!!!

Note: The book is part of a series. It can't be read as a stand alone, so before picking up a copy make sure you have read the first book in the series, Fire!

Synopsis

Water pooled around my feet, rising at an alarming rate. I stared - panicked - at the palms of my hands, willing the water gushing out of them to stop as miraculously as it had begun.

I only sneezed!

Jasmine is struggling to control her new powers, causing floods and fires with an accidental flick of her wrist. In a desperate attempt to master at least one aspect of them, she travels to the Brizan Realm, where she comes closer to discovering the truth about her parents than ever before. But not everyone wants their secrets revealed.

Alone, powerless and, for the first time in her life, afraid, Roxy has only one thought occupying her mind: escaping Cinaer's clutches before it's too late. Her flight will take her across the ocean, but not in the direction she is expecting. Before she can try and get back to Brae, she needs to rescue herself.
Despite being on opposite sides of the world, the girls soon find themselves closer than ever.

'Just One Year' Author Gayle Forman Rewrites Great Literary Love Stories

Gayle Forman (author of Just One Year" and "Just One Day") wrote for Bookish, providing alternate endings to some of fiction's greatest love stories:

In my novel, "Just One Year," Willem introduces the ideas of accidents: "The little things that happen. Sometimes they're insignificant; other times, they change everything," he explains to Allyson. In the sequel, "Just One Year," the accidents work against Willem and Allyson for much of the book, twisting fate to keep them apart in a series of close calls. The idea of accidents or fate or serendipity fascinates me--not because it's unrealistic and fantastical, but because it's not. I feel like this unseen hand impacts life in ways we can't imagine because rarely do we see the road not taken. Many stories--love stories in particular--hinge on a specific set of circumstances: meeting at a certain time, in a certain place, in a certain way. Alter the recipe, miss a connection or make one previously missed and the entire book changes.

Review: Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles #2) by Kresley Cole

Endless Knight  (The Arcana Chronicles #2)

By Kresley Cole

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fav Quote:

“There was French kissing, and then there was Cajun French kissing. Spicier, harder, wilder.” - Evie

The second book of The Arcana Chronicles series will take your breath away...

The game continues but the rules have changed.

Evie refuses to play, she refuses to kill and she's not the only one! Alliances are made, players are killed and shocking secrets are revealed.

After seeing Evie in her full power, Jack is speechless (literally). Evie tries to reach out to him but to no avail! When the danger nears though, they both acknowledge their feelings and decide to leave the past behind. Secrets won't seperate them again. Or so they think...

But little do they know there's a traitor among them that will force them apart. Evie gets to meet Death (aka Aric), the beyond sexy Endless Knight. The knight she may not remember but has shared a past with. Evie has feelings for Death but she's in love with Jack! Can she see beyond the betrayal and the lies or will she surrunder to her Endless Knight???

I L-O-V-E-D Endlles Knight! Although I would have wished there had been more Jack and Evie scenes it was perfect just the way it was! So many emotions combined in a book! Love, lies, death, betrayal, raprure all will lead to the ultimate choice, Jack or Aric???

"My relationship with Jackson had felt fated. Whatever I had with Aric felt . . . endless." - Evie

Endless Knight allows you to finally SEE everyone for what they are. You think you know someone but then you realise that you know nothing about him. There are so many twists and secrets, friends become emenies and enemies, friends.

One thing I hated (no loathed) about this book was the end. I mean really? When is the next book coming out??? I really can't wait...And yeah fellow readers the end is harsh (one word: cliffhanger) !!! You've been warned...

I absofuckinglutely recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading book #3.

Note: This book is not a stand alone. Before reading it make sure you have read the first book in the series  Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1)

Synopsis

In the second book of the Arcana Chronicles Evie has now fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress. And Jackson was there to see it all. In the aftermath of killing Arthur, the tarot Alchemist, Evie realizes that a war is brewing between the other teens that, following the apocalypse, have been given powers and its kill or be killed.

Things get even more complicated when Evie meets Death, the mysterious, sexy Endless Knight. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history - one that Evie can't remember, but Death can't forget. She is drawn to the Endless Knight, but is in love with Jack. Determined to discover why she's been granted these powers, Evie struggles to accept her place in a prophecy that will either save the world, or completely destroy it.

He chose a DVD and slipped it into the player. Rising, he grabbed the remote and joined her on the sofa.

And he didn’t leave any space between them. His hip pressed against hers as he draped his arm across the back cushion. “I keep telling myself to keep my distance, but . . .”

She nodded, leaning into his side. “I’m too tired to worry about it right now.” She smiled at the television. “Monk?”

He nodded. “It’s smart. It’s funny. And it advocates true love.”

“It’s a tragic love, though. His wife is dead.”

“Don’t most love affairs end tragically?” he asked, frowning at the screen.

“I don’t know. Your brother seems pretty happy.”

His face lightened. “Yes, he does. I didn’t see that coming.”

“If you tell me you’re psychic, too—”

He laughed. “I’m not.” Still smiling, he glanced down at her. “I didn’t see you coming either.”

Manic butterflies invaded her stomach as she licked lips suddenly gone dry.

The amber glow returned to his eyes as he followed the motion with his gaze.

The TV brightened with the menu for Monk.

He looked toward it.

Krysta sighed. She had been sure he was going to kiss her.

“I thought I would be pushing my luck if I did,” he murmured.

“Oh.” She didn’t even care that he was reading her thoughts again.

“I also thought you might need a little distance.”

She fought the urge to laugh. Their sides were glued together and his arm now rested across her shoulders, his fingers toying with her hair.

His lips twitched as he glanced at her from the corner of his eye. “Note I said I thought you needed some distance. Tonight I find myself needing the opposite, so this was my compromise.”

She smiled. “I’ll take it.”
